How To Get The Visa Buxx Prepaid Teenager Card
There are five Visa Buxx prepaid card issuers. This includes: Navy Federal, US Bank, Sandy Spring Bank, and PAYjr. It appears that Visa Buxx has partnered with these five banks to offer this prepaid card. From what we’ve been able to find, these five prepaid cards are all very similar.
Fees For The Visa Buxx Prepaid Card
The exact fees will vary depending on who issues your Visa Buxx prepaid card. However there are are some fees related to all five banks, that offer the Visa Buxx card for teenagers. You will be responsible for paying an activation fee or enrollment fee from $4.95 up to $9.95.
We also see that you will be charged fees to deposit money on your teenagers prepaid card, regardless of which method you use. A few of the Visa Buxx issuers will even charge you a fee to talk with a live customer service representative. And you can be charged a fee just to have a paper statement of your account mailed to you, instead of looking at your account online.
Before You Get A Visa Buxx Prepaid Card For Your Kids
It is incredibly important that you read the fine print before you apply and get your kid or teenager a prepaid Visa Buxx card. We suspect that many of these fees, the issuers are hoping that parents do not read the fine print and realize there are quite a few nickel and dime fees, that you’ll be responsible for paying every month.
We understand that the Visa Buxx prepaid card is unique in that it provides access to a major Visa card for teenagers. Additionally giving parents an easy way to send their children money and keep track of their child’s spending behavior. With that said.
We have reviewed much cheaper and lower fee prepaid debit cards. We are suspicious that the Visa Buxx card may be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It appears that many prepaid card issuers are targeting children younger and younger.
There are over 10,000 universities and colleges that have teamed up with the Higher One prepaid card and use direct mail to their students offering this card, and on University letterhead. However the Higher One prepaid card is one of the highest fee prepaid cards we have reviewed.
There are many students that have started social networking pages to try and share their negative experience with Higher One. The biggest complaint from students say they get charged $.50 for every purchase if they choose ‘debit’ instead of ‘credit’ at checkout.
