The Rush Card is a prepaid card. It was created by Russell Simmons a legend in the hip-hop community and the creator of PhatFarm clothing line.
He wanted to provide everyone with access to a major Visa Card especially those individuals paying the high cost of living with check cashing fees and purchasing money orders.
This card will give you free direct deposit. It is estimated that the average American that is paying check cashing fees is spending $123.42 every year just to cash their check. With the Rush Card and BabyPhat Rush Card you can directly deposit your paycheck, your government or benefits check, and even your tax return!
There is no credit check or chexsystems check. You are guaranteed approval as long as your compliant with the US Patriot Act – this law is something all financial institutions must follow and it just means you are who you say you are. They can prove your identity as a real person.
You will also be given a method to pay your bills without having to pay for a money order. You can log into your online account and use the bill payment option to pay your bills such as: cable, utilities, rent, phone, car …
You can do this from the convenience of your home or anywhere you have an internet connection. You can set up a one time payment, future payments, and recurring or monthly payments. And you can sign up for free email and text alerts about you bill payment and account activity: payment upcoming, payment processed, activity on your card…
You have access to you account online 24/7 and customer service. And your card will be covered by Visa’s Zero Liability Policy. This means in case your card is lost or stolen your money will still be protected. The RushCard and BabyPhat RushCard are issued by The Bancorp Bank who is a member of the FDIC.
This is a major Visa card and you can use it for purchases online and over the phone. You can also use it to buy gas at the pump, rent a car, rent a hotel room, buy airfare … Another nice benefit is you can transfer money from one card to another. This is ideal for loved ones that need some financial assistance.
Your card will come with online money management tools, a prescription discount card, and even discount health plans. We aren’t familiar with how effective these medical discounts are however this is a one of a kind feature with the Rush Card.
We do recommend the prepaid RushCard and Baby Phat Rush Card (this is the pink card). It will work just like a checking account and if you take advantage of free direct deposit you will literally be putting money in your pocket every time you get paid!
